Here we go for accelerated Hyperlinked Library Summer 2025!
A Little about me:
My name is Maria Haeflinger. I have held the Librarian title at Family of Faith Christian University in Shawnee, OK, for 12 years now. Our university is fully online, which makes me the online SOLO Librarian for about 350 students from all over the world.
I had to think of what hyperlinked library means in its truest sense. I have not included social media or anything outside of the typical links-based platform for our library thus far. I have heard of libraries having Blogs and Library chat lines, as well as other features, but I have not been overly interested in them. My student base seems to do well with the one-on-one personal Zoom meetings held by appointment at all hours of the day or night. But I just created a LibGuide for our students in my last course on Information Literacy, and I see how useful new ideas can be to expand our horizons. So, here I am to be stretched in expanding my personal, educational, and online horizons. I do not do social media much, so this is a whole new world for me. Yes, I had to have a blog for a beginner course for my MLIS degree, that I started in August of 2022, but I did not do anything with it after the course was finished. So, here I am again.
I want to learn new things and see how they will fit, or not fit, into our FFCU Library world.
Adventures await! New horizons to be explored.
In my free time I love to read. I enjoy long walks and spending time with family. I try to set aside weekends for family and free time since my weeks are very packed full with my full time Librarian position, my cleaning business, being a mom and wife, as well as all the other responsibilities I have on a daily basis. Life is never dull.
