    Hi Kazuko,

This was such a wonderful, aesthetically pleasing presentation! 😊 I really love the whole premise of this program and all the fun, creative ideas that you came up with for the entire event. There’s a lot of variety, which is helpful so that children won’t get bored and so that it can also encourage repeat visitors. It was also some great looking out to make sure there were options for younger and older children.

Another thing that really stood out to me was a part in the event policy section which talked about how mindfulness is not a tool to quiet children. It’s such an apt point, and aligns really well with the changing perspective and concept of modern libraries which are more participatory and “unquiet” in general. All in all, such a great post — I was very glad to have read through it!

      Hello Ramasha,
Thank you for your kind words. It is important to have variety in programming, as everyone has different needs. Because I chose a month-long program, I was able to really find something for everyone. I am so pleased with the modern concept of libraries being inclusive for all, including being quiet and louder when appropriate.

I cannot wait to check out your Innovation Strategy and Roadmap. Thanks again!

Your presentation was beautiful to read through! I love the entire idea and admire such thought out programming. I have some small ones in my life and would love to take them to this program.

I especially love in your evaluation slide how you choose to involve the kids– besides counting attendance and interviewing parents, allowing the participants themselves to vote on the success of the program with a pom pom in a jar is really sweet.

      Hello Zoe,
Thank you! I am so glad we learned participatory service in class, so it was important to include kids in voting. I like the pom pom idea better than tokens. Thanks for the suggestion. I hope the small ones in your life can attend a mindfulness program.

I am looking forward to checking out your project.

What a wonderful presentation! As someone who is hoping to be a children’s librarian someday, this feels like such great programming. As a preschool teacher, I have found that a lot of families really value tools to help teach and guide social and emotional learning and regulation. I could see everyone-children, parents, familes as whole-benefitting from this type of program!

    Thank you!

      Hello Rachel,
Thank you for your sweet comments. I want to learn more about how you teach social and emotional learning to preschoolers. I also aspire to become a children’s librarian. I hope you find a great position when you graduate.
