This is Ye from China! Nice to virtually meet you all!
I was born and raised in a small city in Zhejiang, a province near Shanghai. After I graduated as a Translation and Interpreting (English-Chinese) major in 2012, I started my first job at an English-teaching institution in Shanghai. Two and a half years later, I left that job and started my journey of library work at NYU Shanghai. I currently work as circulation manager in our Access Services team. My responsibilities include hiring/training/managing student workers, supervising general circulation matters, etc.
This is my second semester in the program and I was introduced to it by one of my colleagues. She also strongly recommended this course and Professor Stephens. Before I started the program, I had made my mind to explore the technological side of library work/information profession – a side that I have no prior knowledge of but am eager to learn about. I hope this program will push me to learn new things that I wouldn’t have the chance to learn at work and I am also exited to see more possibilities unlocked for my future career.
Here are some pictures (from eight months ago) of the small city I come from (It’s a sightseeing place I visited, but I don’t live here :D).
I’m super excited to start this semester with you. Looking forward to learning and exploring more about emerging technologies and trends in this community!
