Hi Niko, I enjoyed reading your post! I think this is a win-win for both the teens and adults. I wonder if the library can create some kind of a certificate of completion or a public speaking certificate that the teens would earn at the end of this program. This might be a good way to entice teens to participate, something they can add to their resumes, use in college and job applications. I think to do so, they would need to refer to SFPL’s policies to make sure it wouldn’t go against any standing rules/regulations. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Hi Niko,
This is such an amazing idea! I love how it provides great benefits to both of the age groups, with the teens being able to learn and practice public speaking skills and the adults learning technology and social media skills. Definitely a win-win! It seems like it would be such a great confidence-booster for the teens to be able to practice presentation skills using a topic that they are already natural experts in, and so great for the adults to be able to learn from them and have a setting in which they could feel comfortable asking questions and furthering their own knowledge and skills. I also really like how you emphasized that respect and patience need to go both ways. It may be nerve-racking at first for the teens to get up and present to adults, and adults may find technology to be a frustration, so I totally agree that fostering that positive and supportive environment from the get-go is important and will help to make the whole program more successful.
Nice work!
