Inspiration Report: Infinite Learning

I chose to dive into the infinite learning inspiration report. I was inspired by my current library where we offer a few homestead programs to the public and know that people enjoy them. Within this report, you’ll find reasons why a modern homesteading program designed for the library users will help to build the community and help people connect with others like them. Enjoy!

    Hi Carlee,

I really love the concept you pursued in your inspiration report!! Incorporating a modern homesteading program into public libraries is both innovative and immensely impactful for all kinds of communities. As someone who’s passionate about self-reliance and self-sustainability, I can see this initiative not only benefiting individuals, but strengthening connections among neighbors as well.

I personally love programs like seed harvesting, sewing, and composting. Libraries who offer these programs are truly listening and evolving to meet the practical needs of their communities. Also, the inclusion of digital workshops and hands-on makerspaces can make the program even better, making it accessible to more people, ensuring no one is left out. LOVE that :))

Thank you Kiana. I actually have just started to try to live more sustainably and be more self-sufficient so I think unintentionally it came from a place of want. I didn’t buy any bread for Thanksgiving because I made it! I am also trying to use all of our products in our house before buying new in order to be more ‘environmentally friendly’. Including making coffee at home every single day. These are just small changes but I think once they become habit and routine, it becomes much easier to do.
I mainly work with tweens but also once a month, families. I wonder if this is something that I can do as a small stepping stone in building my community. Thank you for your feedback!

I love the idea of a homesteading program. I know a lot of libraries have a seed library/seed sharing program, and some have community gardens onsite. A homesteading program, where community members can not only take advantage of these resources but also learn needed skills, would be a wonderful tie-in to these resources. I personally would love to attend a workshop on keeping backyard chickens!
