Thank you @Michael! Personally, this is a huge help as I’ve had an unexpectedly crazy week and I was stressing about not being able to give this assignment the focus it needs. Yay!

Hi Amanda! Where on Long Island are you? My husband grew up in East Meadow, and I see in your photo you visited the Syosset library. Not too far from his old neck of the woods! We are East Coasters too, in upstate NY.
The library tour sounds so fun and what a clever way to keep kids occupied and connected to the library over the summer, and like…[Read more] -

Your post is powerful and clearly makes some strong connections between the effects of the Covid pandemic and libraries as workplaces and service-providers. I really like and agree with this point “the value of libraries has been highlighted as a resource serving the vital needs of their communities, not just a building housing books.” Sometimes you don’t appreciate something (or recognize how many needs it fulfills) until it’s not available. I love the workarounds you shared like the story time anytime. I hope that remained – I think about some lonely or bored little kid stuck at home, calling into the library to hear a story.
Thanks for sharing,
Mary Ann
