One response to “Innovation Strategy & Roadmap: The Sensory-Friendly Library”
I love this inclusive idea for making the library a more accessible space, Colin. I think you’ve done a great job in explaining how a small-scale conversion project can make a major impact on the community of people with sensory sensitivities. I would love to see a space like this in my local library.
Even AMC Theaters has sensory-friendly film programming available throughout the month, where they adjust the lighting and sounds and give people space to move about and do whatever they need to do to watch a movie comfortably – for them and their own improved and safe experience! I think it’s important framing that this, and the service that you are proposing at the library, is about creating an inclusive experience for the community and not about tucking people away into a corner.
