One of the things I most enjoyed about this class was all the examples of different libraries/programs/services/projects/ideas. I was not expecting them to be so creatively based and inspiring.
As I researched my director’s brief I came across an art installation that hosted a human library at burning man last year. I have been so excited to share this with the class. When I went back to find the website I saw that there where other projects also associated with this term as well. I thought it would be interesting to share them with you as they relate to hyperlinked library.
I decided to try out Glogster for this project. To be able to create a visually link presentation enticed me as well as the 7 day trial. It was a little clunky to work with and I kept getting error messages. I’m not sure if it was me or the software? I hope this opens for you! I did a quick screen capture just in case. Once the presentation opens in another tab, be patient it’s a little slow to load. Use your mouse to hover over an object and it will indicate if there is a link. Click on the items that interest you the most to learn more. [CYOA]
Thank you for posting~ Knowledge is Power!
Hi Christina,
OMG, I just realized you are NOT one of my classmates, LOL. I just added your interview link you sent me. Thank you! As you can see from the comments below, your piece is a hit.

This is so cool! I loved getting to learn about the art installation at Burning Man and how it incorporated the Human Library as well.
Opens just fine. Very fun!
@cmcaldwell
Your piece for the virtual symposium is so fun!
I love that your theme of “Flybrary” covers so many concepts, @cmcaldwell! Like several others, I was most inspired by the piece on the artwork and the Human Library at Burning Man. And now I want to investigate Glogster too!
Very nice presentation. I have never heard of Glogster; it is a very cool way to present material. Nice job!
What a cool symposium entry! Definitely going to give Glogster a try.
Hi @dyerariel, @kimmueller, @deanau, @jrblibrarian, @scollins, @ashleyloria,
Thank you all for sharing. When I first saw the piece and learned about the concept if blew me away. I have been corresponding with the artist Christina and she just forwarded me a link to an interview for ArtSpeaks. The art director of burning man interviewed her along with 3 other artists from Burning Man 2019 that had reading, books, learning and libraries as part of their artistic concept.
Each artist talks and shows a video about their project and there is a Q&A. Christina shows many photos of inside the sculpture, talks more about the human library and library/book lending. It’s a great amendment to what I have presented if your interested learning more.

Very cool, @cmcaldwell! I like to see The Human Library out in the world. How neat would it be if this were to become a standard feature at other festivals?
Hi @gmrickel,
That would be awesome. Thank you for checking out my post.

@cmcaldwell,kudos for such a great symposium! Fun to explore, a clever take on flybraries, and introducing a new presentation tool. You ticked all the boxes!
HI @kayzdaze2020
LOL, I hope so. I am glad you enjoyed it

@cmcaldwell This is such a fun way to display your symposium. I’ve never heard of Glogster, but now I have to check it out! I like the visual components you chose and it seems so suitable for your topic!
Thank you!
Jen
Hi @jlford0209,
Everyone seems to really like Glogster. I think it would be great for teachers. I wish it had a few more visual choices but it was free. I am glad I tried it and exposed the class to it.

Hi Christine
This was really cool and creative – I love fishing so the video on the fly fishing flybrary was great. I will have to look to see if our fishing spots have one and if not may be start one.
-Jennie
Hi Jennie,
I am so glad you viewed the fishing flybrary. Yah, please check it out. That would be awesome. I was surprised at how many locations were registered on the map. I love all the creative flybrary boards where they attached the flies too. 🙂

Christine, this is fantastic! I love that they had a Human Library at Burning Man.
I love that there exists a “flybrary” concept for fly fishing. I just think that is so cool, as it embraces a concept that a lot of libraries are realizing, too. A library can be more than just books. It’s especially interesting that at the heart their flybrary, it is still about creating a sense of community.
@cmcaldwell Like some of our classmates, I had never heard of Glogster, either—looks like a great way to curate videos and text! I love that flybrary has taken so many forms—people who flyfish, at airports, and the Human Library at Burning Man! Really fun and interesting presentation, Christine!
