My name is Iris and I am nearing the end of my SJSU MLIS journey. I still have another year left to go but, having taken just one class each semester, it&#8217;s been a long road!<\/p>\n<p>I just finished my 22nd year of teaching. I work with junior high students, teaching English and science. Like in LIS, education is a field undergoing transition at what feels like an accelerated pace. I have found much of what I have learned in the MLIS program can be applied to my own classroom. Technology has changed the way my students interact with information and I look forward to learning about the participatory aspect of hyperlinked libraries.<\/p>\n<p>Outside of work and school, I enjoy travel and reading. I&#8217;ve recently discovered science fiction, which is a new genre for me. I&#8217;ve read most of John Scalzi&#8217;s books, a couple of Andy Weir&#8217;s, and am halfway through\u00a0<em>Dungeon Crawler Carl.\u00a0<\/em>If you have any recommendations, let me know! =)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello!
