  1. Hi Bethany,
Your project — In Your Room — sounds so cool and unique! It’s such an amazing and powerful way to bring stories to life, creating a shared and emotional experience for the whole community. It’s clear how much heart and thought you’ve put into this, and it’s a beautiful reflection of the course’s themes of empathy, participation, and storytelling.

Btw, your sample video is incredibly moving; I actually related to a few of the stories on a personal level. Even the music sets the right tone and ambience. I can only imagine how impactful the full project will be once it’s up and running. It’s truly inspiring to see how you’re bringing the hyperlinked library concepts to life! Thank you for sharing your vision! 🙂

    1. Hi @kianapouya, thank you so much for your kind words! I really loved how storytelling fit into our coursework on hyperlinked spaces, and I feel very passionately about bringing initiatives like this to academic libraries. Your compliment means so much- thank you!

  2. Hi Bethany,
I also knew I wanted to take this course after taking INFO 200 with Dr. Stephens — his passion really was perspective-shifting. And your project proposal is so cool! I recently went to an art museum where one exhibit was a dark room with beanbags and pillows strewn on the floor and a huge projection of an ever-changing undersea scene on one wall, complete with ambient music and water sounds. It was so relaxing, and I remember thinking that it would be amazing if our library could have a room like this where people could just go to unwind. Having the projections being patron-submitted stories instead is just the perfect shift to make it so much more impactful. Thanks for sharing!

  3. @bklint I really love your takeaways! I felt the same about participatory service and storytelling. Also, your IYR project sounds so creative and powerful. The exhibit example is very moving, which is astonishing from such short testimonies. It seems like the need to be concise only leaves room for the distilled version of our stories, which are actually quite profound! I agree about the music and ambiance being just right. Awesome work!
