Reflection Blog – Hyperlinked Environments: Sometimes all you need is a little space
As the weeks progress and we continue our exploration of the Hyperlinked library, I am continually reminded about the components that create what would be a library. That it goes beyond the building and the collections inside – it’s the community that it serves and the space that is curated to cultivated the culture and environment of the library itself. This week we explored Hyperlinked Environments and I took the time to explore what a hyperlinked environment could be. On the surface and within the name – one may assume that a hyperlinked environment is a space that contains that latest technology and the most sophisticated programming. But as I…

Reflection Blog – Hyperlinked Communities
Through my exploration of this week’s topic, I think the part of this concept that resonated with me the most was how hyperlinks can be PEOPLE. Connected people create connected communities and connected communities create foundations for stronger and more resilient communities. I would first like to consider what is a Hyperlinked Community. What would a hyperlinked community be from a library perspective. From my understanding, hyperlinked communities are an integral part of understanding what a hyperlinked library is. Assignment X: Library 2.0 and Third Places
I have decided to explore the ideas of Library 2.0 and participatory service in libraries. Part of the reason these themes stood out to me in particular was because of what Library 2.0 is at its core. Change that is constant and purposeful – that is implemented by empowering library users through participatory library driven services. By creating a library by people and for the people that it serves, libraries will be able to implement meaningful changes that will allows for libraries to adapt, evolve, and withstand the test of time rather than fighting against it. To provide some context about why this particular idea resonated so deeply with me…

Hello there! – About Me
Hi all! My name is Ashley. This is my 3rd semester in the MLIS program at SJSU and I have been enjoying all the learning I have been able to do thus far. I am personally drawn to public librarianship and the community building aspects of what it entails, so part of what drew me to this course was to learn and explore how technology can act as a tool to continue to connect libraries and become a pathway for access to resources, information, and connection to other communities worldwide. I had also heard many wonderful things about this course and Dr. Stephens from the friends I have made through…
